The default payment card that is assigned to the customer is:
a) The last payment card that you added to the customer or,
b) The last payment card that the customer successfully used on your site's payment form,
whichever is more recent
The default payment card of a customer can be changed by clicking Customers Customer List, locate the customer, and click Change next to the default payment card in their profile.
